Track gives Rutland children a boost
Children in Rutland are getting fit and having fun outdoors thanks to a local artificial grass ‘daily mile’ track that has been installed at their school by leading brand LazyLawn.
Pupils at Cottesmore Academy at Kendrew Barracks in Cottesmore, Rutland are now spending play time, class time and after school club time setting goals and beating their personal bests as they race up and down the bright blue, two-lane track.
Nine laps of the track equate to one mile in distance and many of the children are targeting themselves to achieve this on a daily basis.
LazyLawn, which has its head office in nearby Market Overton, installed over 250 square metres of blue and yellow Fun Grass to match the school’s logo to create the track located within the school’s playing field. It is weather-proof, slip resistant tested, durable and super soft to the touch making the ideal play and sports space for the children.
Megan Lucas, head teacher at Cottesmore Academy said, “The children were so excited to have the track installed. They watched it coming together and couldn’t believe it was all theirs!
“They are all now really committed to using it and it has most definitely helped increased physical exercise levels. They thoroughly enjoy using it and are very proud of their track.”
Matt Shemilt, Area Sales Manager for LazyLawn added, “The brightly coloured tracks have become really popular within primary schools, giving children an exciting outdoor feature, which works well as a source of play, learning and sporting pursuits.
“LazyLawn comes in a wide range of colours as well as the traditional green and is an ideal surface for use in educational environments both indoors and outdoors. The blades are really soft yet are able to withstand lots of footfall.Better still the area is easy to maintain and can be used year round without the risk of slips, falls and muddy uniforms if the weather is inclement.”
With the demand for synthetic grass increasing within schools, LazyLawn has installed its safety surfaces to many schools within Rutland and throughout the UK.
