Children at Whissendine Primary School are enjoying the benefits of synthetic turf after LazyLawn® installed an artificial track on the school field allowing pupils to more easily complete their ‘daily mile’, officially opened by local athlete Ben Higgins.
As part of the new educational initiative to get children out of the classroom, LazyLawn® has teamed up with The Daily Mile to get children out for 15 minutes a day to walk, run or jog, making them fitter, healthier and more able to concentrate throughout school.
300 sqm of LazyLawn® Fun Grass product was installed, creating a 190 linear metre track of hard-wearing artificial grass for the children to run on all year round, with a softer landing that does not get damaged through adverse weather.
The track will be used by the children before, during and after school to ensure they are getting a sufficient amount of physical activity, with their new LazyLawn® allowing this in all types of weather. As part of the opening celebrations, LazyLawn® also donated £100 worth of books to the school in line with their current curriculum.
Mrs Sonia Schofield, Headteacher at Whissendine CE Primary School, in the village of Whissendine said: “We are so impressed with our LazyLawn® track and the children already love it.
“The team were at the school every morning before anyone and were the last to leave, to ensure they got on with the job with minimal disruption to the school day.
“They were extremely professional whilst working at the school and the remainder of the field looks as it always has. The whole project has been a very clean, tidy and smart job overall, with the final project looking superb,
“We are so looking forward to using this daily, giving all of the children some form of exercise. On behalf of the whole of Whissendine Primary I would like to say a huge thank you to LazyLawn® for completing our school field.”
