Children returning to Yarnfield Primary School, Birmingham for their new school year are in for a pleasant surprise, as their playground has recently been transformed with over 300m2 of LazyLawn artificial turf.
The school choose LazyLawn for its practical attributes versus natural grass, where the year round cost of maintenance is practically eradicated now. The results have been met with delight and admiration by staff. It has given the school a much needed lift and helped to maximise its outdoor play and learning programmes.
Mr Wynne, head teacher said “We are a newly built school, but unfortunately the playground has not worn well during the five years we have been open. The landscaping that was put in place when the school opened has not adapted well to such a high volume of children and as a result was looking very threadbare.
“As we have a lot of children, but limited outdoor space, being able to utilise the available space is essential and so we looked into the practicalities of installing LazyLawn as an artificial alternative.
“LazyLawn recommended a suitable lawn product that was both realistic in appearance and suitable for the level of footfall it would be exposed to, while also providing impressive references and an excellent guarantee.
“It has made such a difference to the playground as it now looks so vibrant and is suitable for the children to use all year round – they can sit on it, walk on it and play on it and it will still look as good.
“We are all bowled over by the difference the LazyLawn has made to the playground and it is the best thing we have installed at the school.
“It is also very easy to maintain, as it requires no mowing and only an occasional brushing in order to keep it looking as good as the day it was installed.”
Parents will also be relieved by no longer having to contend with mud or grass stains on pupils clothing.
Dallan Tan, LazyLawn Project Manager, comments: “We are delighted that the school are so pleased with the difference LazyLawn has made to the playground. Our installation team have yet again produced a first rate installation that will give the school many years of use.”
