Many of you may have read about a story earlier this week where a local award winning garden in Essex contained a plastic lawn. Our LazyLawn range was used and supplied to the clients builder to complete the installation. Combined with the clients efforts, they produced a stunning area that not only looked visually pleasing but had key features to enable the client to have a degree of low maintenance living (the space is difficult to mow), whilst the raised flower beds and baskets allow her to continue her love of gardening.
Despite winning the ‘Brentwood in Bloom’ local garden show and her efforts in doing so, the client received a few unsavoury and disappointing responses and comments toward the garden design with the inclusion of ‘plastic grass’ as the lawn area.
However, the client did receive much support and praise from the local community and it was a breath of fresh air to see that the judges of the competition recognised that it was the overall look of the garden that achieves the award and the individual parts should be viewed within the overall design and function of the space. This is an ethic we at the LazyLawn brand firmly believe in. An artificial lawn is a lifestyle choice and provides many benefits. When used correctly in either a modern setting, a shaded garden, to transform a roof area or for more senior members of society who struggle with ongoing maintenance, it is these factors that need to be considered when choosing the fake alternative. In many projects, real turf simply is not an option. Clients can choose a hard landscaping option, but is this really as visually pleasing as a soft, green highly natural artificial lawn?

This was followed up with an invitation to the world famous Chelsea Flower Show earlier this year, where the RHS judges were equally impressed by the design which included an artificial lawn with over £20,000 worth of planting, inlaid limestone, stainless steel edging and a bespoke water feature.
