A poll by artificial turf specialists, LazyLawn, has revealed that Britons’ pursuit of the perfect garden is costing up to a staggering £1,000 every year.
In a survey commissioned by the UK’s lawn pioneers, 56% of the 1,732 adults with a garden who were questioned admitted spending up to £200
annually on garden maintenance.
However, 1% of those questioned revealed they splash out between a whopping £801 and £1,000 on maintaining their garden.
While the average spend across the UK was found to be £153, regionally the biggest spenders on garden maintenance were those in the South East, who spend well above the national average by forking out £183 per year, compared to £152 in Scotland, £147 in Wales and the South West, £143 in the Midlands and £139 in the North.
“It would cost £2,700 to have a LazyLawn professionally installed in the average garden, measuring 40 square metres, which works out as £180 per year for the 15-year life expectancy, so you could be spending less money without the hard graft.”
The grass is greener when it’s artificial and by rolling out LazyLawn you could use this free time to pursue leisure activities on the lawn with family or friends or just simply relax and enjoy a good book.
Instead of spending all that money on garden maintenance home owners could be investing in a LazyLawn.
It’s true there is a little bit of required light maintenance – an occasional seasonal sweep and a weed kill across the area, but what would you rather have, a year round green lawn or to be spending all that extra time and money on garden maintenance?
In fact, of the 2,044 British adults questioned in the recent LazyLawn survey, 44% admitted they would spend more leisure time in the garden
if they didn’t have to maintain their lawn.
Unlike a natural lawn, LazyLawn guarantee you’ll never be disappointed when you look out the window, or feel your efforts have gone to waste, as the lush green lawns
are mud free and look good all year round, as well as being resistant to bad weather and pet friendly.
56% of people with a garden would save up to £200 every year
The research, which was carried out by ComRes, discovered that 56% of people with a garden would save up to £200 every year if they did not have to maintain their garden, while 13% could recoup between £201 and £400 and 5% could save between £401 and £600.
Of those questioned, 2% admitted they spend between £601 and £800 looking after their lawn, with 1% splashing out at least £801 up to a staggering £1,000.
Men admitted they are more likely to splash the cash on the garden, spending an average of £171 annually, compared to £136 spent by women.
