The Grass is Greener at King’s Cross!

Artificial Grass Kings Cross

LazyLawn has again installed artificial grass to add a summary touch to Granary Square.

The steps overlooking Regent’s Canal has undertaken a makeover with 500 square metres of its Prestige turf, creating a luscious green seating area for the second year running.

The installation, which is part of King’s Cross’ summer programme, is set to become a lunchtime hotspot for Londoners and visitors looking for a comfy place to soak up summer.

Ken Trew, Project Direct at Argent LLP, Asset Manager for King’s Cross, comments: “We covered the canal side steps by Granary Square in King’s Cross last summer and it was hugely popular with the public; hundreds of people would come each day to sit and enjoy the sunshine.

“This year we decided to repeat the installation and LazyLawn have done a fantastic job, people are already flocking to the steps, as they did last summer.”

Andy Driver, Marketing Director at LazyLawn, comments: “The LazyLawn installation at Granary Square proved so popular last year that we have been asked to inject some colour into this popular canal-side seating area in time for summer.

“Beneath the LazyLawn are granite steps, meaning that people don’t normally sit for too long, but our deep pile Prestige turf has created a comfortable seating area and is increasing how long visitors stay at Granary Square.

“If visitors are spending longer in the area they are more likely to use the nearby facilities, such as cafés and shops, which is obviously a great boost for local businesses.

“The project had to be completed overnight by a crew of five and the granite steps could not be compromised, so the installation method we used provided a very fast and simple way to fix the grass without touching the steps.

“Last year’s project proved to be highly successful, with the grass steps being finally removed in October with no marking of the granite steps, as promised.

“LazyLawn is currently in high demand as it is ideal for large summer projects like this one.

“Last year we also completed a number of summer ‘chill out’ installations in London which proved to be big hits with visitors, including the N1 Centre in Islington and Bromley town centre, and will be doing more of the same in the coming months.

“LazyLawn can offer a superior appearance to natural grass during the summer months, particularly if the weather is hot for sustained periods of time.

“While natural grass can look parched and brown during dry weather, the colour in our artificial grass doesn’t fade, so it looks good all year round.

“As a LazyLawn needs no watering and no mowing, it’s a low maintenance way to add a temporary summer feel to areas that are normally quite stark.”
