A family from County Down have transformed their garden into a low maintenance, all weathers putting green with help from the UK’s biggest artificial grass brand.
LazyLawn Northern Ireland has swung into action to help Mairead and Leonard Breen roll out an artificial putting green at their Kircubbin home for son, Jonathon (22), an aspiring professional golfer.
The family, including Jacinta (25) and Marcus (14), have dug up their natural grass in favour of installing 50 square metres of LazyLawn’s Nylon Ultimate and 60 square metres of Signature turf, which will provide Jonathon with a practice putting green he can access 24 hours a day.
Mairead comments: “We’ve solely done it to encourage Jonathon to focus on his golf practice and to allow him to practice his putting; choosing LazyLawn means he can use it any time of the year.
“Our nearest golf club is only three miles away, but this makes it easier than always having to travel to the club to practice.
“Putting is the most essential aspect of the game to get right and is what improves your score, and as Jonathon is now at the point where he could potentially turn professional, we want to support him anyway that we can.
“As a family we’re all keen golfers, so we will all benefit from the putting green and it will be nice in the summer when we are able to have barbecues complete with putting competitions.
“Everyone that has seen it loves it and the captain and green keeper from our local golf club have both been to test it out and were impressed with how authentic it is to play on.”
While keen gardener Mairead has sacrificed her garden to help Jonathon’s career, she has found there are numerous benefits to having a LazyLawn.
Mairead adds: “I love my garden and had a natural lawn installed four years ago, plus a fish pond and a rockery, which were all well-maintained.
“I still have the rockery to attend to, but it’s nice not having to worry about mowing the lawn, as the LazyLawn always looks perfect and is really low maintenance.”
