The UK’s biggest artificial grass brand teamed up with the furniture firm to revive the garden of district nurse Anne McGrath, which has been transformed from a concrete jungle into an outdoor haven. Anne and daughters Emma and Alice are delighted with the transformation, which included the installation of 40 square metres of artificial lawn from LazyLawn and an outdoor furniture package, gazebo and solar lights from IKEA.
To win the garden revamp, visitors to the Belfast branch of IKEA were asked to demonstrate why they deserved the prize.
Anne comments: “I took a photo of our garden and stapled it to the entry form, because it just looked dreadful and could only be described as a concrete jungle.
“We used to have grass, but it became so wet and boggy that I thought it was best to pave it, which unfortunately left the garden looking unsightly and desperately in need of a revamp.
“We’re delighted to have won, as the whole garden makeover is lovely and looks magical.
“Now that we have a new lawn and comfortable sofas we’ve been using the garden much more and the kids have been able to have friends round for parties and barbecues.
“Everyone loves the LazyLawn, at first they think it’s going to be bristly underfoot, but then they take their socks and shoes off and are surprised that it feels so soft and natural.
“We’ve lived here for 17 years and have started using the garden more than ever, now whenever there’s a dry day we like to get outside.
“I would recommend a LazyLawn to anyone, it looks natural but it doesn’t need mowing – it’s the best invention ever!”
