LazyLawn supports Children in Need 2012

LazyLawn supporting Children In Need 2012

LazyLawn has played its part in this year's BBC Children in Need appeal - and will feature on prime time TV this week.

The artificial grass specialists donated a lawn worth over £5-thousand towards the renovation of a centre for children with additional needs in Edinburgh, which will be the subject of a BBC 1 special programme: “DIY SOS: The Big Build”.

The Yard, which helps children and young people from 3 to 25, is an indoor and outdoor space that this year has been celebrating 25 years of helping families from all over the country deal with the demands of daily life, giving the young people a space to develop their confidence and encouraging them to make lasting friendships.

Although The Yard receives a grant towards its costs from BBC Children in Need, the building and its outdoor space were in desperate need of a total overhaul - and when Andy Driver, the marketing director of LazyLawn, heard about the project, he immediately contacted the BBC production team to donate the artificial turf needed.

The renovation took ten days from the end of September to the beginning of last month, with over three hundred people - with a team from LazyLawn's Edinburgh office helping to transform both building and outdoor play area. Though the days were long and the work demanding, the experience of taking part was "well worth the hard work".

Said Andy: "Children in Need is probably the country's biggest charity event of the year, and it raises money for fantastic causes. “When I got to hear about the Edinburgh project, and found out they were on the look out for an artificial lawn to enhance the look of the place, I had no hesitation in offering a donation on behalf of LazyLawn."

“We’ve worked alongside the BBC DIY-SOS team before on projects, and they are always for something worthile. It was a pleasure to be involved, and for a great cause, and now I'm looking forward to the whole country being able to see the finished product on TV."

The DIY SOS Big Build Children in Need Special will be shown on BBC1 this Wednesday 14th November @ 8pm.
